MISSION
The mission of the Dave Mirra Foundation is to celebrate and continue the legacy of Dave Mirra through the lives of his daughters, Madison and Mackenzie. In doing so, the Foundation will embrace Dave's passions in life: his love for sports, his drive to help and inspire others, and his family’s commitment to mental health awareness.
The Foundation will accomplish this mission with the following goals:
- Encourage Youth Cycling:
- Promote cycling among youth through the provision of bicycles, helmets, and safety education programs.
- Support the development of safe cycling infrastructure in underserved communities.

BOARD MEMBERS
Katie Moses Swope
President
Katie Moses Swope founded MoSwo PR in 2013 after 25 years of working in the PR and sports events industry. From 1997-2013, Moses Swope was part of the communications team for ESPN - seven of those years as Director of Communications. During her 16+ years at ESPN, Moses Swope worked more than 100 events, including X Games (Brazil, Dubai, France, Korea, Malaysia, Spain, Thailand, U.S.), ESPY Awards, Monday Night Football, NASCAR, Disney announcements/ red carpets. In addition to events, Moses Swope prepared executive talking points, managed hundreds of press conferences, created a crisis strategy for events. During MoSwo PR’s 11 years as a boutique PR firm, Moses Swope has worked as a publicist for action sports and soccer events, Olympians, Paralympians, Olympic National Governing Bodies (NGBs), films, company announcements and acquisitions, charitable organizations and events, and grand openings.
Dave Mirra was Katie’s first client helping him with PR in his transition from BMX / Rally to Triathlon. Moses Swope has managed all of Dave’s social channels including Dave Mirra on Facebook, Dave Mirra Legacy on Instagram as well as the Dave Mirra Legacy website. In addition to launching The Dave Mirra Foundation, Moses Swope is co-producer on the documentary “Miracle Boy: The Dave Mirra Story”.
Lauren Mirra Everett
Co-Chair
Lauren Mirra Everett met Dave Mirra in her sophomore year at East Carolina University. He had moved to Greenville, NC, to be closer to his brother and ride BMX at Jaycee Skatepark. Dave and Lauren were married in February of 2006. Later that year, they welcomed their first daughter, Madison. In 2007, they welcomed their second daughter, Mackenzie.
Currently, Lauren serves as correspondence director for Victorious Living Ministries - an outlet that provides hope, encouragement, and life-skill tools to correctional leaders and incarcerated persons through their magazine, broadcasts, correspondence and on-site visits. Launched in 2011 by former world champion water skier Kristi Overton Johnson, the quarterly, faith-based magazine is distributed in over 3,000 prisons across the United States and internationally.
In 2018, Lauren and Andy Everett were married. They still reside in Greenville, NC.
Madison Mirra
Family Board Member
Madison Mirra is the 18-year-old daughter of Lauren and Dave Mirra. She is currently playing Division I volleyball at East Carolina University (ECU) as a freshman. She previously received her high school diploma from J.H. Rose High School after attending for four years. After an 11-year gymnastics career and the passing of her dad, Madison’s volleyball journey began at a local club, East Carolina Junior Volleyball Club (ECJVC), after gaining interest from a family friend. Madison played for five seasons with ECJVC and then transferred to Triangle Volleyball Club to conclude her travel volleyball career before heading to ECU.
Madison enjoyed serving the people of La Romana, Dominican Republic for two, consecutive years. She helped build housing for residents and loved having the opportunity to share her love for sports with the children and teens within that community. Madison enjoys riding dirt bikes and challenging her abilities by trying new things and hopes to add on to her dad’s legacy in the future.
Mackenzie Mirra

Mackenzie Mirra is the soon to be 17-year-old daughter of Dave and Lauren. She is currently a junior at JH Rose High School in her hometown of Greenville, NC. She has been actively involved in the golf and tennis teams as well as recently being inducted into the National Honors Society for her academic achievements. She has also been invited into the Health Sciences Academy.
Last summer, Mackenzie had the privilege of serving the people of La Romana, Dominican Republic where she helped to build housing for residents and prepared and delivered boxes of food to the community while loving on the children of the villages. Mackenzie enjoys off-shore fishing, surfing and spending time with her friends and family. She is looking forward to partnering with her sister to carry on her dad’s legacy.
Steve Astephen

Steve Astephen is the CEO of talent representation agency, The Familie, and co-founder of Unlisted Brand Lab - The Familie’s sister marketing agency and brand incubator. Since launching his agency in 1998, Steve has played a pivotal role in reshaping the industry with a remarkable career that includes 17 years at Wasserman where he served as Managing Partner and contributed to over $400M in revenue growth. His innovations include modernizing the athlete equity model, fostering a new era of collaboration between elite talent and brands. In 2019, Steve revived The Familie V2, representing talent in sports, music, art, and media with a unique blend of deal-making, brand building and marketing strategies. Astephen was Dave Mirra’s long-time friend and agent from 1999 - 2016.
Daniel Dhers

Daniel Dhers is a professional BMX rider from Caracas, Venezuela, born on March 25, 1985. Known for his exceptional skills in BMX Freestyle, Dhers has won multiple X Games medals, several Dew Tour championships, an Olympic Silver medal and recently an Olympic gold medal as a coach of the Chinese BMX Freestyle team. He became a dominant figure in the BMX world with his innovative tricks, smooth style, and competitive spirit. Dhers is also the founder of the Daniel Dhers Action Sports Complex in North Carolina, one of the largest BMX parks in the world. His passion for BMX and his contributions to the sport continue to inspire young riders globally.
Micky Dymond

Micky Dymond, a three-time AMA National Champion and a member of the highly-regarded Team Honda powerhouse in the 1980s was a racer to watch.
But it did not come easy for Dymond as he worked his way up through the ever-competitive southern California motocross scene, racing at places like Indian Dunes and Saddleback and riding brands like Maico and Husqvarna. Once he signed with factory Honda for the 1986 season and went on to win back-to-back AMA 125 National Motocross Championships, he had made it big in the pro ranks. Dymond was also one of the most stylish riders of the ’80s. After his two national championship wins he continued to compete on two wheels through the early 90s. Micky’s last serious year of racing (before discovering Supermoto in ’03) was in 1992.
He remained active in the motorcycle industry, helping support events by providing course-building materials and offering technical assistance for many of the early freestyle events. Dymond also continued to participate in select races, winning titles both in ’05 AMA Supermoto and at the Pikes Peak International Hillclimb. In 2003, Dymond participated in Tony Hawk’s Boom Boom Huck Jam, and in 2014, together with Dave Mirra, Ben Bostrom, Dave Zabriskie, Dymond competed in the Race Across America, and they won. From this legendary race and win, Dymond wrote the book “Legends of the Road”.
Tony Hawk

Tony Hawk was just nine-years old when his brother gave him his first skateboard. By fourteen he’d turned pro, and by sixteen he was widely considered the best skateboarder on earth. In 1999, he became the first skater to ever complete a 900, and shortly thereafter, launched Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater, his now billion-dollar video game franchise. The Hawk empire includes Birdhouse Skateboards, Hawk Clothing, and the Tony Hawk Signature Series products, as well as his production company, 900 Films. In 2022, a biographical documentary film titled “Tony Hawk: Until the Wheels Fall Off award-winning director Sam Jones debuted on HBO, giving an in-depth look at Tony’s legendary career and personal life. Tony founded the The Skatepark Project, which helps underserved communities create safe and inclusive skateparks for youth.

Travis Pastrana

Pastrana's name is synonymous with pushing boundaries and taking risks. A multi-talented athlete, father, and entrepreneur, the Annapolis, MD, native is a true motorsports legend. Throughout his remarkable career, he has claimed victory at the highest levels of competition. Pastrana has clinched eleven X Games gold medals, nine championships across supercross, motocross, and rally racing, showcasing his exceptional talent and versatility in the world of motorsports. Pastrana is a co-founder of Nitrocross, a race series featuring ground-breaking, sky-touching tracks designed to unleash the full power of world-class, high- performance electric vehicles. This series is passionate about celebrating today’s champions while also cultivating a new generation of racers and expanding the motorsports audience, aiming to create the next wave of motorsport enthusiasts. Additionally, Pastrana is a co-founder of Nitro Circus, a global entertainment brand that has revolutionized the world of action sports. What began as a small group of friends performing jaw-dropping stunts has evolved into a worldwide phenomenon, with live tours, a hit television series, and blockbuster films.
Chris Stiepock

After receiving his MBA in International Sport Management from the University of Rhode Island in 1993, Stiepock then spent the next 18 years as one of ESPN’s primary architects of the X Games, driving the event’s growth from a fledgling alternative sports event to a global brand and phenomenon. As Vice President and General Manager, Stiepock oversaw a remarkable team that executed event operations, sports and competition, marketing, public relations, live music and endemic sales. From the outset he established the top two priorities of the X Games as Athletes and Courses, and he served as the primary media spokesperson. Stiepock left ESPN in 2014 for NBC Sports where he oversaw the Dew Tour, as well as NBC Sports’ relationship with the action sports staging company Alli Sports and the Lucas Oil AMA Motocross Championships. Throughout his career in action sports, Stiepock championed the athletes and the companies that supported them. He currently works for youth sports company Unrivaled Sports as the Vice President of Multi-Sport Management.
Nigel Sylvester

Nigel Sylvester is an American professional BMX athlete, creative, entrepreneur, filmmaker, and philanthropist from Queens, New York. At the age of 18 years old Sylvester entered the professional ranks by signing with BMX legend Dave Mirra and Mirraco Bikes. Nigel’s career has extended beyond traditional BMX biking through his progressive riding style, one-of-a-kind artistic expression, and innovative content creation which has accumulated over 100 million views including his GO series. These distinctive characteristics have catapulted Sylvester to the forefront of the sports world.
While a sought-out professional athlete and the first BMX athlete to sign to Michael Jordan’s coveted Jordan Brand roster, Sylvester’s creative vision has also been tapped over the years to partner with global brands including Nike, EA Sports, Mercedes, Levi’s, Louis Vuitton, PlayStation, Moncler, Specialized Bikes, Rimowa, New Era, Hyperice and SmartWater, pushing the boundaries of sport and art. Notable moments within working with these brands include creating the first ever Rimowa BMX Travel Case and designing the first ever Fendi BMX bike.
Nigel has designed and released several sneakers with the Nike and Air Jordan brand. His signature Air Jordan 1 was arguably the best AJ1 of 2018, as cited by sneaker enthusiasts around the world, and in the summer of 2024 released two colorways of the Jordan AJ4RM leading creative direction that spoke for itself by selling out instantly. As a creative visionary, Nigel directed the visual campaign, “Grandma’s Driveway.” He was also newly appointed as the Creative Advisor for New Era Cap in Spring of 2024 and recently creatively directed the “Forever New York” Campaign for their Fall/ Winter 2024 Collection, Nigel was featured in ESPN’s ‘Body Issue’ and honored by Forbes Magazine’s prestigious ‘30 Under 30’ list in 2017, and was the recipient of Conde Nast Traveler's 'Trailblazer of the Year' award in 2018. Since then has been featured on the covers of Wonderland, PREME, Numero, and CircleZeroEight. He has also walked runway shows at Paris Fashion Week and New York Fashion Week for Kid Super, Casablanca, Willy Chavarria, and Hermès.
As an entrepreneur, Nigel founded the GO brand, which hosts an annual bike ride called GO Ride. The transatlantic bike ride was held this year on July 13th, starting in London and culminating in New York City, spanning over 3000 miles across the Atlantic, all within 24 hours. In July of 2021, Nigel founded the Nigel Sylvester Foundation to support initiatives such as building after-school programs, bike donations, and fundraising community bike rides dedicated o transforming the lives of underserved youth. As an alumnus of Benjamin N. Cardozo High School, Nigel partnered with Hyperice in May of 2024 to unveil the athletic Recovery Room which included donated equipment for student-athletes. Today, Nigel is one of the most recognized athletes around the world. He is known for his relentless drive, creative vision, and disruptive approach as he pushes the boundaries of sport and art.
